Generation Steinbeis

Champions of innovation in industry and business: Generation Steinbeis

For more than 150 years, the hallmarks of "Generation Steinbeis" have been progressive thinking, pioneering spirit, and a flair for innovation. In the early 19th century, Ferdinand and Otto von Steinbeis paved the way for modern manufacturing, training, and value-based entrepreneurship. In the 20th century, the younger Generation Steinbeis revolutionized the resource-intensive paper industry, bringing about “ecological transformation” and establishing one of the most modern recycled paper factories in Europe. The goal of the Steinbeis Foundation and Steinbeis GmbH & Co. KG für Technologietransfer is to continue this commitment entered into by Generation Steinbeis, not only to science and academia, but also to economic development.

Ferdinand von Steinbeis (1807 – 1893) Founding father, business politician, member of the Wuerttemberg regional parliament, and the patron to whom the Steinbeis Foundation owes its name, as do a variety of universities, schools and vocational institutes of continuing professional development. The father of dual education.
Otto von Steinbeis (1839 – 1920) Founder and trailblazer for generations of entrepreneurs in forestry, the lumber industry, and processing. Later, the people he inspired established companies in the paper and paper processing industry. Planner and constructor of the first rack railroad, on Wendelstein Mountain (1912).

One and the same name – different business models: enterprises belonging to the Steinbeis brand

Entrepreneurship is a central thread of the genetic code of Generation Steinbeis. But this code also encompasses extraordinary business models – like the Steinbeis Foundation for Economic Development, Steinbeis GmbH & Co. KG für Technologietransfer, and Steinbeis Holding GmbH .
